All Dressed Up with Winter Wear Designs Blog Tour!

I love fancy dress clothes. I love them for me, I love them for my kids, I love them for my partner. I also love when a blog tour allows me to indulge in pretty fabrics, a great pattern and over the top dress just because.

This month’s theme with Winter Wear Designs is all dressed up which is right up my alley!

Sweet Pea has been pestering me since her birthday for a new tea party dress so we desided the Sightseer Sun Dress would fit the bill perfectly.

I love that its a dress that offers a full dress and tunic, but my favorite thing is the fact it also offers a vintage length (which is Sweet Pea’s preferred length and not many dress patterns offer it.)

So off Sweet Pea went to look through my stash, she found a fun pink chiffon and pink woven left over from a princess dress I made for her friend. So now to make it work— and then she found the last few pink sparkle snaps I had left from a preorder from last summer with Kimmy Snabric. This left me with figuring out how to incorporate the snaps but still keep the line of the dress true to the pattern.

In the end, I kept the pattern true to instruction but added 1/2 inch to the skirt width. This way I could interface those sections then fold them over to allow for the snap overlapping. It took some fussy placement with attaching the skirt since I needed the overlap.

I feel like it came out amazing.

I love the piping on this dress soo much.

I really love how the chiffon has so much movement. I did use Suzanne’s advice for the bodice construction for preteen bodies and lined the front (she suggested lining both the front and back but I only chose to worry about the front since Sweet Pea doesn’t wear a bra or undershirts yet. )

Look how happy she was- she literally hasn’t taken it off in 2 days. I’d say that is a positive endorsement for more of this sweet dress. Go get your copy of this cute dress perfect for summer and tea parties!
